Mathematics, taught with rigour.
Merton Tutors is a London-based mathematics tuition company. We work one-to-one with students from GCSE through to university admissions tests, and we write our own preparation materials in-house.
Most tutoring services hire whoever is willing to take the work. We don’t. Our tutors are mathematicians who have themselves sat the exams they teach, and who know, from experience, what each examiner is actually looking for.
We started Merton because too much of the tutoring market is built around plausible-sounding hints and shortcut tricks. We teach the working that an examiner expects to see, the proofs that hold up under pressure, and the habits that make a student independent of their tutor. Our students leave knowing the subject, not just how to pass the next paper.
What we believe
Real working, not gloss
Examiners want to see proper working, not magic answers. We teach the steps a top student would actually write, and the reasoning behind them.
First principles
Tricks fail under pressure. We build understanding from the ground up so a student can reconstruct a method when the question comes at them sideways.
Materials we’ve written ourselves
Our admissions test practice papers and topic guides are written and checked in-house. No scraped past papers, no third-party reseller content.
Independence, eventually
The goal of tuition is to make itself unnecessary. We train students to work without a tutor by the time they sit the exam.
